Love of Allah

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Allahumma sali wa salim ala rasoolillah.

Asalam alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakatuhu sisters,

So today I just wanted to talk about love of Allah and Hope in His endless mercy.

Many times we make mistakes; many times we struggle with our desires, our thoughts, feelings and bodies to do the things that Allah has encouraged us to do.

How many times have we promised ourselves that we will stop doing something to earn the pleasure of our Lord, and then few days pass by or even the next minute and there we are again back to square one.

Well my dear sisters you are not alone in this. But let’s try something different.

Allah is sooooo Merciful and many times in His book He reminds us of this. Allah didn’t create us to punish us as shaytan likes to trick us into believing. Allah s.w.t is the Most Merciful, The Most Kind, The Most Loving, He created us, knows us and loves us better than ANYBODY ever will. His love is second to none.

Allah tells us in His book, what could mean:

'What would Allah do with your punishment if you are grateful and believe in Him, and Allah is Most appreciative All Knowing' (Surah An-Nisa 147).

Yes gratitude and belief that’s all it takes!

Allah is closer to us than our own jugular veins. And in another ayah Allah tells us what could mean:

"And when My slaves ask you concerning Me, then, I am indeed near, I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright" (Surah Al-Baqarah 186)

Allah swt has given us the opportunity to turn to Him to just drop the fear of fearing Him, to drop the love of others and love Him instead.

During the time of the Prophet s.a.w a lady lost her baby and couldn’t find him in the heat of the dessert, when she finally found him she was so relieved that she began to suckle him straight away. The Prophet s.a.w then asked his companions do you think this lady would ever throw her baby in the fire?, they said what you and I are probably thinking which was “of course not ya rasolullah”. Then he said Allah loves us more than this lady loves her baby. Allahuakbar.

Allah is not like any one of His creations, He is far Mightier and more Gracious than those evil thoughts that shaytan (May Allah’s curse be upon him) tries to whisper to us.

When we make mistakes yes we should feel bad for doing them and recognise that we are disobeying Allah, but that shouldn't make us think that Allah will not forgive us. We are not allowed to give up in the mercy of Allah, it is actually haram!

Despair not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people.” (Surah Az-Zumar 53)

Follow up a bad deed with a good deed for it’ll wipe it out. When we look at the sayings of our beloved rasool, we find so much motivation in them, so much hope, a breath of fresh air. He was the Prophet s.a.w endowed with wisdom and eloquence in his speech. He would always encourage us to do good.

Let's focus on improving, and not just crying over our sins and mistakes without doing anything about it.

As humans we like to be happy, we like to be joyful and at peace, we like to hear things that will make us smile and relaxed. Allah subhanahu wa ta ala recognises this. Many times we hear wa bashiril ladheena aamanu (And give glad tidings to those who believe) in the Qur'an.

This week and from today on inshaAllah let's focus on Loving Allah. Let us try something new, something amazing inshaAllah.

Imagine a beautiful white bird, pure like snow. A believer is like this bird soaring high with it’s wings in the sky. Just like the bird has a head, a body, and two wings, the believers faith also has this. The body is the love of Allah which is what drives us forward, one wing is the fear of Allah and the other is the hope in the endless Mercy of our Lord.

Sweetheart don’t let shaytan fool you, don’t let him trick you about Allah. Allah’s punishment is real yes, but indeed His Mercy is far greater. His Mercy overcomes His wrath and His Mercy encompasses every single thing. Even us, the sinners, the ones who fall and make mistakes. Don’t let your status, your hijab or niqab delude you and make you think that cos you’re 'practising' you can’t make mistakes, or that you're worse off because you should know better.

1. Yes, anyone who submits to the will of Allah should know better

2. Do you think you’re better than our father, Adam AS who was in Jannah and had all that he could want but still made a mistake?

No of course not.

I would like to end by reminding myself and my beautiful sisters, Love Allah and give Him a special place in your heart, team it up with fear so we don’t go astray but always remember when we make mistakes we have the opportunity to correct it, and it is never ever too late to take a deep breath and start all over again. Just like the first day you turned to Allah.

Lastly (last one I promise)

What a lovely mercy from our Lord, (who said there is no love in Islam?) Are these not the words of a Lord that can only be full of Love and Mercy for His slaves?

"Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful" Surah Furqaan 70

Wal akhirul da’awahum anilhamdulillahi rabil alameen.

Anything beneficial which I have written here today is from the favour and bounty of our Lord, and anything incorrect, or displeasing to Allah is from me and I ask Allah to forgive me this.

Love you all dearly.

Keep turning back to Allah and always remember istigfaar.
